Appliances directory is the collection of websites about appliances. Appliance is device or instrument designed to perform a specific function, especially an electrical device, such as a toaster, for household use. It also refers something, as a machine, devised for a particular function: apparatus, contraption, contrivance, and device. It is a device that is dedicated to a specific function in contrast to a general-purpose computer. Many consider the router the first network appliance.

The word appliance has several different areas of meaning, all usually referring to a device with a narrow function:

Such items as toilets and sinks are not appliances, but plumbing fixtures, because they operate only with water and not with energy input.
